Salzburg

Salzburg is known at the city of Mozart but it also has a beautiful old town and a rich and varied cultural heritage. It is around a two hour journey from Seefeld.

In 1997 UNESCO named Salzburg as part of the World's Cultural Heritage. What impressed the staff from UNESCO above all was the unique beauty of the old town and Hellbrunn Castle.

Enthroned above the old town lie the fortifications of Hohensalzburg, the largest complete remaining fortification in central Europe. On a stroll through the narrow alleys of the pedestrian area the visitor can find buildings from the Middle Ages, the Romantic era, the Baroque and the Classical periods within stone's throws from one another.

The impressive Salzburg Cathedral is also well worth a visit, as is the Monastery of St. Peter, the Riding School and Mirabell Castle. A little bit outside the centre of the town is Hellbrunn Castle with its world-famous water fountains and animal park.
