Lake Achen
The trip around the "Tyrolean fjord" of Lake Achen should be one of the high spots of your holiday in Seefel. Our tip: combine it with a journey on the train down to Innsbruck and along the Inn valley.
Lake Achen is often referred to as the "Tyrolean Sea" not only because of the amount of windsurfing but also because of its size. It has a depth of up to 133 meters and the water is particularly clear - underwater you can see up to ten meters.
The best way to experience the beauty of the lake is from one of the ferries on the lake. Board one of the regular services from stops around the lake, lean back and enjoy the views.
Our Tip : Combine an trip to Lake Achen with a journey on the Mittenwald-Innsbruck railway line. Board the train in Seefeld and change at the main Innsbruck railway station for a train to Jenbach.
Our Tip : Combine an trip to Lake Achen with a journey on the Mittenwald-Innsbruck railway line. Board the train in Seefeld and change at the main Innsbruck railway station for a train to Jenbach. In Jenbach you can catch a cog-railway with real steam trains up to the shores of Lake Achen at certain times of day and then follow that with a tour of the lake on one of the four boats which run the ferry services.
